AdSense – Optimization Tips

AdSense – is an advertisement application run by Google. Website/blog owners can enroll in this program to enable text, image, and more recently, video advertisements on their websites and generate revenue on either a per-click or per-impression basis (Each time an advertisement loads onto a user’s screen, the ad server may count that loading as one impression.)

Here are the some important Optimization tips for AdSense:

  • Positioning of your Ad.
  • Looks of your Ads
  • More Ads and More Variety.

1. Positioning of your Ad.

There are a number of things that can significantly increase the amount that you earn from AdSense.

One of the first things is the positioning of your Ads – on your page is really crucial

  • Instead of Placing your Ads on the side of your page put them into your content. And wind your content around the Ad. Basically you need to put the Ads where the reader’s eyes will naturally go.

  • And the end of the blog post is great spot for AdSense to perform well. Because the readers get to the end of the post and they naturally look for something else or so they will click the Ad.

  • Ads located above the fold (i.e., the area visible on a page without scrolling down). tend to perform better than those below the fold

  • You can under stand which position of the page can produce better results by seeing this heat map. The colors fade from dark orange (strongest performance) to light yellow (weakest performance).

2.Looks of your Ads

How the Ads should look to attract readers/visitors?

  • You should not select contrasting colors which do not match with your website’s for you Ads background.

  • They more they blend in and integrate with your site the better they perform.

  • You should not take it too far so that your Ads blend in so much, so that no one actually sees them.

  • So you should find out what fits the design of your site.

  • Smaller ads tend not to perform well as the larger ones do. If positioned well larger ads can significantly improve the performance of your site.

For Bloggers:

  • To increase the number of readers to see and click on your ads, blend your ad units ( A set of ads displayed as a result of one piece of the AdSense ad code.) into the background of your blog. Choose a bold color for the ad title to help draw attention to your ads, and then make sure that the background and borders of your ads are the same color as the background of the area where the ad is placed.

3.More Ads and More Variety.

  • Putting more than one Ad on a page can increase your earning significantly.

  • AdSense offers a whole range of different options such as Link units (link units display a list of topics that are relevant to your page. Each topic, when clicked, brings the user to a page of related advertisements.), text Ads, image Ads, and video Ads.

  • Experiment with the different types of Ads and find that some works better on some topics and sites than others.
